Womenswear brand CeCe releases a lookbook for their collection tagged ‘Kandinsky‘, a collection of clothes and bags with amazing shapes and distinct cuts fit for every fashionable woman.
According to the brand representative, “Kandinsky, the collection, features our interpretation of Structure Joyeuse which translates to the use of shapes and colors. We see a variation of shapes, structures and colors in both the work and collection. Wassily prided in the fact that his works all had a sporadic use of color in trying to express himself, which we have best incorporated”
Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist who is credited with painting one of the first recognized purely abstract works. The style of his works of the early period, 1920s, can be called neither conditional nor pretentious but in them nothing portended a radical renovation of painting. He alternated among half-abstract idiom, impressionist landscapes and romantic fantasies.
Structure Joyeuse, an abstract work in 1926, is the inspiration for this collection. This artwork pictures geometization of separate elements becoming stronger than that of his previous work. Structure Joyeuse translated to English as Merry Structure was inspired by first, the proper process of simplification and secondly the Avant Garde artistic atmosphere of Moscow at that time. Kandinsky experimented with color and while individual geometrical elements increasingly entered the foreground, his palette was sated with cold color harmonies which, at times, are perceived as a dissonance, the circle is used differently, as a sensual symbol of perfect form.
