So you’ve scored an invite to a movie premiere; a chance to see a movie before the rest of the mortals and meet with the cast, not to mention selfies with the stars; say waaah?! Of course you are going. Here’s the dilemma though, not sure if you should be dressing up or down and have no one to ask.
Celebrity fashion stylist and fashion entrepreneur, Jane Michael who was recently featured on CNN African voices, gives tips on how to dress up for a movie premiere. ‘To dress up for a movie premiere is quite simple and easy,’ Jane says. ‘For every time you need to put yourself together, do not forget the 3Ws i.e. Who, What and Where,’ she adds.
She explains that the first W which stands for ‘WHO’, represents you. Find yourself, find your style and most importantly, find your comfort.
The second W stands for WHAT. You need to consider what kind of movie premiere you are dressing for- daytime premieres are often more casual than evening premieres. The theme of the occasion also helps you know the kind of outfit to go for.
The last W stands for WHERE, as your location is another factor to consider. Knowing your location will help you pick comfortable outfits. She emphasizes that some locations and occasion may not be suitable for heavy outfits like jacket, leather or even flowy dresses.
Movie premieres are somewhat of major event and could tend to make you watch yourself and your interactions. The most important thing in addition to being comfortable, is to make sure you enjoy yourself!
